You can expect for me to share a song that has been ministering to my soul, along with Bible verses to support the message of the song, and a few encouraging words.
So clear off your schedule for the next 20 minutes, put aside any fears or worries, and step into the Presence of God with me.
This is Part III of the "Worship is My Warfare" series with Biblical examples of how God brought victory to His people through the power of worship and praise.
Psalm 32:7 says, “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.”
This verse is such a wonderful reminder that praise and worship through song has the power to deliver us from our troubles.
I know that when I feel like I need a sudden move of God over my life, the Holy Spirit reminds me to worship.
Sometimes I sing out loud a familiar song, and sometimes I sing my own song to the Lord. In that moment, I can enter into that hiding place with Him, where only He and I exist.
I can tell you with certainty that my worship delivers me in two ways:
1. I immediately feel a shift in my attitude. Worry and fear flee, and I feel peace and calm surround me instead of those negative feelings.
2. The situation I may have been facing resolves. It may not be immediate, but that confidence returns to my soul, knowing that sometimes I do not need to fight at all. I just need to be still and know that He is God, that He promises to preserve me from trouble, and that He surrounds me with songs of deliverance.
It reminds me of the deliverance that the Apostle Paul and Silas experienced when they were in prison. They were in chains, imprisoned in the innermost cell. But what did they decide to do? Let's read:
"But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed."
Acts 16:25-26
HOW POWERFUL IS THAT?!
In the middle of their affliction and at their darkest hour, Paul and Silas were praying and singing to God. Their praise and worship were literal songs of deliverance!
Suddenly, God moved and set them and everyone around them free!
Heartfelt praise and worship towards God, our Deliverer, can shake open prison doors and loosen all bondage. Not just for you, but your praise can impact those around you.
I encourage you to take a few minutes, right now, wherever you are, and enter into a time of worship and praise unto the Lord. Stand before Him today, completely confident in Jehovah Mephalti, The-Lord-My-Deliverer, who is more than capable to deliver you and save you from all of your troubles.
I want to share with you the song "Surrounded (Fight My Battles)" by UPPERROOM. It's one of my favorite battle cry songs, especially when I am praying and worshiping for deliverance. I love how it references many verses from Psalm 23, which is a favorite Psalm of many for good reason.
Fill your lips today with praise, raise your hands high in worship with your heart at peace and quiet in His unfailing love.
As your praise reaches the throne, receive the fullness of joy as God rejoices over you and surrounds you with songs of deliverance.
Fighting in Spirit with you,
Sara-Marie
