Worship Wednesdays # 5 - Praising with a Two-Edged Sword in Hand!

Jul 29, 2020

WORSHIP WEDNESDAYS SERIES
This series is an invitation to take 15-20 minutes out of your day to simply come before the LORD in authentic and simple worship and praise.

You can expect for me to share a song that has been ministering to my soul, along with Bible verses to support the message of the song, and a few encouraging words.

So clear off your schedule for the next 20 minutes, put aside any fears or worries, and step into the Presence of God with me.

Worship Wednesdays # 5 - Praising with a Two-Edged Sword in Hand!

"Let the saints be joyful in glory; Let them sing aloud on their beds.

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand,"

Psalms 149:5-6

When I first read these verses earlier today in Psalm 149, I was struck with their power! I am so passionate about worship and praise being chief among the spiritual weapons that God has given His believers, so I get so excited when I find even more Scriptures to back it up.

This psalm is a command for us to rejoice in the LORD, to be vocal with our praises to God. Even at rest, we need to be at the ready! We should be worshiping God with our words and being armed with HIS Word, prepared for any spiritual attack.

Hebrews 4:12 describes the word of God as that double-edged sword that the psalm says we need to always have in hand:

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

How did Jesus fight every temptation thrown His way from the devil? Jesus quoted Scripture every single time saying "It is written..."

Jesus has given us the perfect example that we can resist every fiery dart from the enemy by KNOWING the Word of God. We cannot let anything or anyone try to cause doubt in what our hearts know as true.

Worship and praise are ways that we can meditate on those scriptural truths. When we make a worshipful sound, the enemy has to flee, because he cannot withstand our spiritual warfare of praise.

So let's make a sound today!

Let's meditate on His Word every chance we get. Let's stay deeply rooted in Truth and anchored to the hope of Jesus Christ.

The song I wanted to share with you today is called "Egypt" by Cory Asbury. I love how these lyrics bring the story of the Israelites to life. The same God who rescued them out of captivity, is the same God who can deliver you today, pulling you out of wherever you shouldn't be and leading you to victory.

"You’re the God who fights for me

Lord of every victory

Hallelujah, hallelujah

You have torn apart the sea

You have led me through the deep

Hallelujah, hallelujah"

Singing loudly and with my sword in hand,

Sara-Marie
