In a world constantly shouting do more, be more, buy more, our souls are aching for less. But not just less noise—they’re craving more of Jesus. The spiritual discipline of simplicity is about living with an undivided heart, choosing what matters most, and surrendering the distractions that pull us away from God’s presence.
If you’ve felt overwhelmed, spiritually cluttered, or disconnected, these 4 prayer points will help you realign with the peace and purpose found only in Christ.
“Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.” — Psalm 86:11
The root of spiritual simplicity is singular focus. When our hearts are divided—half for God, half for everything else—our worship suffers. Pray for a heart that chases only Him.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that my heart has been distracted and divided. I’ve been pulled in so many directions, and it’s affected how I follow You. Unite my heart, Lord. Make You my first and only pursuit. Strip away anything that competes with Your voice, and teach me how to live with a focused, obedient heart. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
“Let us lay aside every weight… and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” — Hebrews 12:1
Some of us are spiritually exhausted not because of sin—but because of excess. We’re carrying things God never asked us to. Simplicity begins with surrender.
Prayer:
Jesus, show me what I’ve been holding onto that’s weighing down my walk. Help me recognize the excess—whether it’s physical clutter, emotional baggage, unnecessary commitments, or toxic mindsets—and give me the strength to release them. I want to make space for what matters most: Your presence. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
“Godliness with contentment is great gain.” — 1 Timothy 6:6
Contentment is worship in action. It says, “Jesus, You are enough.” A simple life isn’t a lack of ambition—it’s a heart fully satisfied in Him.
Prayer:
Lord, quiet the voice of comparison and the craving for more. Help me embrace the beauty of “enough.” Whether You give much or little, I choose to be content because I have You—and You are my portion. Teach me to celebrate what I have and trust You with what I don’t. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
“Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” — Luke 10:42
We all have a choice. We can run around with spiritual to-do lists like Martha… or we can sit down at Jesus’ feet like Mary. Simplicity is choosing the better part—every day.
Prayer:
Father, I want to be like Mary. Help me to choose You over my to-do list, intimacy over busyness, presence over performance. Even in a busy world, teach me to slow down and sit at Your feet. Let this not just be a one-time word, but a daily choice to walk in simplicity and devotion. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
These prayers aren’t just words—they’re a way to reset your soul.
