Plundering the Enemy’s Camp: Why Every Battle Produces Spoils
By Soul of Worship Ministry
Here is a biblical reality we must recover: God does not lead His people into battle to come out empty-handed. Every war in Scripture carries spoils. Worshipers don’t merely survive, but by the grace of God, they plunder.
“So Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil… and they were three days gathering the spoil, it was so much.” — 2 Chronicles 20:25
When Judah lifted a sound of praise (2 Chr 20), the LORD Himself set ambushes. When Israel departed Egypt, they did not slip out poor, they plundered Egypt (Ex 12:35–36). When David stood amid the ashes of Ziklag, the word of the LORD was, “Pursue…you shall surely overtake… and without fail recover all” (1 Sam 30:8) and he did.
Beloved, battles are not only about endurance; they are about inheritance. The enemy’s attack becomes the delivery system of God’s blessing.
What Are the Spoils?
Beyond Material Wealth
Yes, provision matters. But Kingdom spoils are broader and richer: healing (Isaiah 53:5), wisdom and revelation (Daniel 1:17–20), authority (Esther 8:2), restored relationships (Malachi 4:6), peace and rest after warfare (2 Sam 8:11), testimony that overcomes (Rev 12:11).
Spoils Are For God First
Spoils are entrusted for worship and assignment. In Jericho the “first spoils” were consecrated to the LORD’s treasury (Josh 6:18–19). Discernment keeps our hearts aligned: some increase we enjoy, some we return, all we steward unto His glory.
Five Revelatory Principles of Plundering
-
Worship is Warfare
Worship is not ambiance; it is artillery. Judah sent singers first, and God set ambushes (2 Chr 20:21–24). Your sound invites the LORD of Hosts to contend on your behalf and terrifies the adversary (Ps 149:6–9).
-
Expect Spoils After the Battle
Scripture does not end battles at survival. Judah required three days to gather because there was so much (2 Chr 20:25). Expect the goodness of the Lord on the far side of warfare (Ps 27:13).
-
Show Up to Gather
Israel asked and received from the Egyptians (Ex 12:35–36). David pursued and recovered (1 Sam 30). Faith participates and takes action! Call back the opportunity, reconcile, apply again, and step toward the thing you prayed for.
-
Consecrate the First
Not all spoils are ours to keep. The LORD’s portion keeps our portion blessed (Prov 3:9–10). Ask: “What of this belongs in Your treasury, Lord?” Obedience secures the blessing.
-
Secure Generational Inheritance
What you plunder today funds tomorrow’s altar. Israel’s gold later furnished the tabernacle (Ex 25). A wise person leaves an inheritance for children’s children (Prov 13:22). Think legacy while you gather.
Scripture Lens for Plundering
- 2 Chronicles 20 — Worshipers first; the Lord fights; abundant spoil.
- Exodus 12:35–36 — Favor releases resources; Israel plunders Egypt.
- 1 Samuel 30:1–20 — “Recover all”; David gathers people, livestock, and honor.
- Nehemiah 2:8 — “The king granted me what I asked,” because the gracious hand of God was upon him.
- Joshua 6 — The first belongs to the LORD; consecration protects future victories.
How to Gather the Spoils in Your Life (Today)
- Lift Your Sound: Open your mouth in praise. Heaven responds to the sound of faith (Ps 89:15; Acts 16:25–26).
- Write & Decree: Issue a Word-aligned decree (Job 22:28; Est 8:8). Put God’s promises in your mouth over family, finances, health, and legacy.
- Go Collect: Pray and move. Make the call, apply again, reconcile, schedule, send the proposal. Faith acts (James 2:17).
- Consecrate: Ask the Spirit what belongs in the LORD’s treasury (Josh 6:19; Prov 3:9–10). Obedience preserves the spoils.
- Record & Testify: Write what God has done. Testimony multiplies courage (Rev 12:11; Ps 78:4–7).

Prophetic Application
Do not despise your wilderness. Do not sit forever in the ashes of Ziklag. Refuse the lie that this battle left you barren. Every battle in God becomes seed for blessing. Like Judah, you will not merely watch enemies fall, you will gather. Like Israel, you will not exit bondage empty, you will carry resources for worship. Like David, you will not recover some...you will recover all and more.
Pray This Today
Jehovah Nissi, my Banner, thank You for fighting for me. I refuse to leave this season empty-handed. By faith I gather healing, wisdom, provision, restored relationships, authority, and peace. What belongs in Your treasury I gladly consecrate. I worship first and plunder for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
