How do we overcome discouraging naysayers? 

1 Samuel 17:28
Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

Here we are in the story of David and Goliath.

David was sent by his father to take food to his brothers and found himself witnessing Goliath’s taunts. Curious, David begins to ask what is happening and here comes his oldest brother.

In this verse Eliab is upset with David and insults him, even tried to tell him his heart is in the wrong posture.

Imagine if David would have gotten dismayed by this and left?

This story would have turned out a lot different.

Often, we are sent on divine appointments to fulfill God’s purpose, but the enemy will use someone to discourage us or set limitations on us because he knows what we have been anointed to do.

David not only had the experience to fight but he knew the Lord would give him the strategy, all he had to do was trust God, to step out in faith that God got him.

But how many times do we let others discourage us from our purpose?

This was David's older brother, probably someone he looked up to. But David knew his God and he listened to God’s voice instead.

Is there someone, even family, in your life trying to discourage you?

Are you frustrated because someone is talking you out of what God has appointed you to do?

Learn to listen to God’s voice and step out in faith.

The Bible says, "Resist the devil and he shall flee," so when you choose not to listen to those nay sayers, they flee!

I encourage you not to settle for living under the expectations or approvals of anyone other than God for what He has called you to do.
