Mar 14, 2020

In light of all that is happening in the world today as it relates to COVID-19, it can be so easy to fall into the cycle of fear and anxiety of the unknown.

Yet, God does not want us to live in the shackles of fear. God is still bigger and greater than any disease or sickness and we can still rely on His goodness and power. God has not stopped being God. We must take every negative thought captive and submit it to the obedience of Christ, as the Word says we have the power to do in 2 Corinthians 10:5.

It is our human nature to worry. When we surround ourselves with hour after hour of the media telling us why we should fear, we will only breed more fear in ourselves and in our families.

We do not have to live like this. God wants us to live in the freedom of the peace that He offers. There are so many scriptures we can pray over fear and anxiety but I want to share with you 10 Bible Verses you can pray right now over your own fear and over your family. Share these with your family, friends, and coworkers, and plant seeds of peace into your environment.

10 Bible Verses to Pray over Fear in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic

1. Be Anxious for Nothing

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

2. Fear Not - God is with you!

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

3. Trust over Fear

"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?"

Psalms 56:3-4

4. God is our Refuge

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”

Psalms 46:1-2

5. Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God…”

Psalms 46:10

6. Despite the trials, Jesus has won the victory!

"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

7. Jesus already paid the price for our peace and healing.

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5

8. The Lord our God is our strength every morning.

"O Lord , be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble."

Isaiah 33:2

9. Peace is ours.

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

John 14:27

10. Let peace rule in your heart.

"But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful."

Colossians 3:14-15

I pray that these scriptures will be nourishing and calming to your soul today.

God bless you today and everyday,

Sara-Marie
